As a minor find, it seems that there was a heroine in historical fiction named Angélique written by Anne and Serge Golon. Her stories were published in French originally; but the first ten of the books were translated into English. They're definitely in the historical romance genre, and highly readable. http://www.goodreads.com/series/50674-angelique-original-version
They made some of them into movies, starring Michèle Mercier.
My name is Angélique (or Angel). I'm a Cajun native of New Orleans, LA. I'm a
blonde in my learly 30's. I'm married and full-time stay at home mommy of a daughter. Politically, I'm independent, with contrarian leanings.
I still have some traces of my Cajun/Yat accent despite having been in the groves of academe.
I hope you won't mind my odd sense of humor.

I remember them for the semi-lurid covers on the paperbacks back when they sold for 75 cents.
That looks like a beach read.
Your picture keeps popping up everywhere. Book covers, next to lamp posts... EVERYWHERE!
A really nice book cover, promising erotic content inside.
Nice boobies on the girl on the cover.
Then: "France's daughter of joy seeks lusty new adventures as a sultan's pampered slave." Now: "Angelique writes a blog." Times change!
