Why not take a break and enjoy the high-energy exuberance of the can-can dance?
It's been popular for nearly 180 years now.
The music used for this can-can is Jacques Offenbach's Galop Infernal
from Orpheus in the Underworld. This music is the
go-to choice whenever the can-can is done.
The costumes are part of the spectacle.
Can you imagine a can-can in which
the dancers are wearing yoga clothes?
At my age, dancing the can-can is a can't-can't. But it's fun to watch.
ReplyDeleteWe all thought the song was called "The Can Can Song" Thanks again Angel!
ReplyDeleteA group did a version at a mall. They were nowhere as skilled as the first set.
ReplyDeleteI really like the .... music. Yeah that's it, the music.
ReplyDeleteI'm out of breath just from watching!
ReplyDeleteI read up on it: men used to do the cancan as well. I can't figure it's as spectacular as the show we saw here. Remember the movie with Shirley MacLaine and Frank Sinatra? I guess that was the film debut of Juliet Prowse and her almost 40-in legs...
ReplyDeleteThe first set of dancers was the best!
