"Oops! . . . . I Did It Again: BOTB

"Oops! . . . . I Did It Again" was Britney Spears's hit from her second album, released in 2002; It's rather glitzy; and features Britney in a cat suit. This one, just like "Baby One More Time," almost screams for a parody:

Here's Lea and the cast from Glee, doing the same song:

Having listened to both of these versions, which one do you prefer: The Spears original or the Glee cast one?

And to make things a little more interesting, here is one allegedly performed by Louis Armstrong back in 1932:

And here is a cover version done by Max Raabe as a German cabaret song:

I think these four versions give some range of possibilities for this song. So, after having heard at least snatches of each, which one do you like best:

_____ The Britney Spears version
_____ The Glee version
_____ The 'Louis Armstrong' version
_____ The Max Raabe Version.

Please vote for your preference. I will post totals ion Feb. 21.

  1. Welcome to the Battles!

A very interesting start. Actually, I've always liked the Britney Spears version. The performers from Glee almost always excel in their song covers. The two parodies are funny and well done--I had to look the song up on Wiki to discover this was not really Louis Armstrong as initially it had me fooled. It's a good replication of the Armstrong style though it does get a bit silly after a while. I like German cabaret music and Raabe was entertaining, but I thought the Raabe version maybe camped it up too much.

I'm a sucker for the pop-shlock of Britney so I'm casting my vote with her.

  2. I liked the Glee version best. The Armstrong faux version was tedious!

  3. I think I'm going to sit this one out, Angel.
I'm pretty sure that I won't be able to make it through one version of the song, let alone 4!

  4. Brittany's voice sounds a bit strange in the video, and I do like the version by Glee better.

  5. I prefer the original Britney version. The Glee version was okay, but so short. The fourth version seemed kind of silly, not that that is a bad thing, but didn't work for me. The third version, as you are probably aware, is not really Louis Armstrong. It was actually a fake rendition created for a comedy web-site.
supermasterpiece.com is where it first appeared. There is actually a disclaimer on the song which says, "You've heard the Britney version, now hear the original in our hilarious parody! Or is it real? No, it is not!"
it was very well done though. Wasn't it? As Alex said, almost fooled me, but I had to look it up because it didn't sound real.
Once again, give my vote to Britney! Hope to see you in the other music battles.

  6. I hate Britney Spears so she gets the last vote to be frank...or Joe or Gaylord...:) I actually like Raabe first-the style of cabaret was very appealing. @nd goes to Glee because they did a great version of this song and 3rd to Louis wannabe.

  10. Glad to have you on BoTB! Everyone, including myself (and that's not a compliment) does this song better than Brittney Spears. I preferred The Glee cast, who gets my vote, in the modern arrangement followed by the vintage cut done by Armstrong. Totally interesting battle, my friend. When you get time, maybe you'll hop over to Curious as a Cathy to vote! ;)

  13. Welcome to the Battles. My vote goes to Louis Armstrong, Brittney could have given him some credit.

  14. Welcome to BOTB.

While 4-ways are normally way to time consuming for my limited time and tastes, this was entertaining.

I don't care for Britney, but the video was revealing, in that she apparently has had a lot of work done on her face in the time since that video was recorded. Sad, when considering her age.

Glee, was Glee, IMO a cheap knock off of the original.

Louis was disappointing, but then it wasn't really Satchmo, so that's alright.

The Rabbe was the most entertaining of all. I love German Cabaret style. Very 'camp' and funny. Give that guy my vote.
